Vulcanul din Islanda isi intensifica activitatea!

Un geolog sustine ca activitatea vulcanului Eyjafjallajokull din Islanda, a carui eruptie a provocat haos in traficul aerian din Europa, s-a intensificat, transmite AP.

Magnus Tumi Gudmundsson a afirmat ca norul de cenusa emanat a ajuns pana la 8.5 kilometri in aer.

Gudmundsson a mai spus ca vantul care a batut in zona a limpezit atmosfera iar sambata a fost prima zi in care oamenii de stiinta au putut zbura deasupra vulcanului pentru a evalua activitatea acestuia. Odata ce oamenii de stiinta vor determina cata gheata s-a topit, va fi mult mai usor sa estimeze cat va dura eruptia vulcanului, a spus geologul islandez.

Gudmundsson a declarat ca: “atata vreme cat exista sufiecienta gheata, ramane posibilitatea formarii de cenusa suplimentara, lucru care va perturba in continuare traficul aerian din Europa”.

Vineri, intr-o declaratie pentru EuroNews, Gudmundsson a spus ca norul de cenusa vulcanica din Islanda, care a afectat traficul aerian din Europa, este imprevizibil.

Conform declaratiei sale, "nu exista variante simple in acest caz: eruptia s-ar putea opri maine, dar ar putea continua sa afecteze traficul aerian timp de mai multe saptamani sau luni".
